Term 1 Test Make Up Day

If you missed a test this term, please come by after school on Tuesday, November 14 to make up the test.  If you are planning to come in, please come with a clear idea of exactly which specific test you missed.

Interim Reports

It's Interim Week!  Students in my Foundations of Math & Pre-Calculus 10 classes will be receiving their interim reports during class on Thursday, October 26 or on Friday, October 27.  Students in my Pre-Calculus 11 and Pre-Calculus 12 classes will receive their interim reports during class on Monday, October 30 or on Tuesday, October 31.  I apologise for the delay in issuing interims to students in these classes.  If you are in these classes, you know that you wrote a test very recently.  I wanted to include the scores from these tests on the interim reports, so that the reports are as accurate as possible.  All interim reports will be paper printouts.

Please contact me if you have any questions, or if your dog ate your interim report before you could show it to your parents.

Return of the Clinic

Hey, Math Buddies!  The Math Clinic is back for another fun-filled year!  Whether you need help with a specific math topic, are looking for a quiet place to work on your practice assignments, or simply wondering what funky shirt Mr. Marzouk is wearing this week, please stop by A207 after school on Thursdays.  You won't be disappointed.

(Don't forget that you can also visit Ms. Adrangi's Success Program in A231, after schools from Monday to Wednesday, for extra help.  Her shirts are pretty funky too...but not Marzouk-funky!)

FreshGrade Photo Uploading Problems

Hey grade 10 students!  It's great to see that lots of you have started posting on your online math portfolio.  The work I have seen so far has generally been excellent!  A few of you have had issues posting photos with your phone, where it seems to get stuck on the "processing" screen.  I'm not sure what the solution to the problem is yet.  If you have this problem, please continue with your post but do one of the following:
1)  email yourself the picture and try uploading it using a web browser on a computer.
2)  email me the picture ( and I will add it to your portfolio.

That's all for now.  Keep on posting!

Math Contests

Math contests are a great way to challenge and improve your mathematical problem solving skills, to measure your abilities against your peers, and to meet like-minded math friends.  If you are interested in writing a math contest this year, please complete this form and bring it to Mr. Marzouk in A207, along with the contest fee of $10.  Mr. Marzouk will take care of the rest.  What a nice guy!

Treats? I Heard Treats. Who Said Treats?

The after school Success Program runs every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in A231. This is an excellent place to go if you need extra help with any of your courses (not just math), or if you are looking for a good environment to work/study with your friends.  As an added incentive, Ms. Adrangi has promised treats!  I hope it's doughnuts...

Please also go see Ms. Adrangi of you are interested in helping other students.  This is an ideal opportunity to get some volunteer hours, develop peer-tutoring skills, and demonstrate community engagement...and eat treats (maybe doughnuts)!

Welcome Back

I hope you've enjoyed your long summer days.  As we begin this new school year, please remember that the primary goal for being here is your learning.  My job is merely to teach, but your job is to learn.  I will do what I can to help you with that, but learning is ultimately an active process on your part (i.e. I can't "learn" for you).  Success in math depends on lots of regular practice and not falling behind.  Please have fun during your school year, but please stay focused.  There is room  for both.

Have a spectacular school year.  Focus on success.

Welcome back.
